Olbia

Welcome to Olbia, the Gateway to Sardinia

Olbia, one of the oldest cities in Sardinia, has roots in a millennia-old history, intertwining different cultures that have made it a place of great charm. Located in a deep inlet, the city expands across a vast plain surrounded by mountains and hills, offering breathtaking views.

The city, which has always been a connection point between Sardinia and the mainland, is considered the "gateway to the island" due to its strategic location near the port and airport, which welcome thousands of tourists from all over the world every year. The beauty of the sea, with paradisiacal beaches such as Porto Istana and the famous Rena Bianca, attracts visitors, but Olbia has much more to offer.

Culture, History, and Traditions

Olbia is a city rich in history, monuments, and charming views. The historic center, ancient and well-preserved, is the heart of the city. Among the elegant buildings and picturesque alleys, there is Corso Umberto, the shopping street that comes alive in the summer with thousands of people. Here, you can also find restaurants and bars where you can taste local typical dishes.

In the center, a visit to the Church of San Paolo is a must, built where an ancient Roman temple dedicated to Hercules once stood. A short walk away, the Basilica of San Simplicio, a symbol of Olbia, is the most important religious monument in northeastern Sardinia. Near it, the Museum of the Necropolis of San Simplicio tells the story of ancient Olbia through Roman tombs, archaeological finds, and funeral monuments.

A Complete Experience

Olbia is not just about the sea and history. The city also hosts international events, concerts, and world-renowned sports competitions. Furthermore, you cannot miss a visit to the Archaeological Museum of Olbia, which houses precious artifacts, including two Roman ships, and testimonies of the city's history.

For a relaxing stroll, the Fausto Noce Park is the ideal place, with its green spaces, small lakes, and walkways, perfect for a walk or a bike ride.
